The Captain's Room

The graceful bedroom of Captain Isaac Merrill, on the 2nd floor, overlooks the village. Original, wide pumpkin-pine floor boards, reveal the hand made nails of long ago…. The Four Poster, queen-size bed is adorned with a delicate macramé canopy. The fireplace remains unchanged from when it was built in 1828, working now with gas logs. Large windows built by ships carpenters surround the room, giving it the feel of the master’s cabin in a grand sailing ship.
To maintain the integrity of the room, a "water closet" contains small sink & toilet, with the tub/shower is in the bedroom, beside the fireplace, hung with curtains, giving the experience of living in an 1800’s house.
